MURALS FOR THE CORAL SPRINGS HISTORIC BRIDGE, PUBLIC ART
In collaboration with the Historic Advisory Committee, City of Coral Springs. Mural location: 4500 NW (5th Avenue, Coral Springs, Florida, 2019
Two murals, painted anew (based on the original murals), for the Coral Springs Covered Bridge (1964), designed by George Hodapp.
The President of Coral Ridge Properties, James S. Hunt, wanted to convey a sense of Old South.
He contacted the American Snuff company for chewing tobacco designs.
The Bull of the Woods on the East side of the bridge was first used in 1876. The Peach Snuff logo on the west side was created in 1950.
Over the years the murals have been restored. To ensure a more accurate recreation of the mural,
the City of Coral Springs Historical Advisory Committee has provided older photographs to be used as reference.
The Peach side of the mural was recreated based on the last mural restoration.
The Bull side of the mural was recreated based on older photographs of the mural.
THE CORAL SPRINGS HISTORIC BRIDGE
Excerpt from an article by Sharon Aron Baron, published in 2018 Coral Springs Talk
“The iconic covered bridge in Coral Springs was damaged after a truck tried to pass under the low-clearance roof. Originally painted barn red, James S. Hunt, president of Coral Ridge Properties, wanted to convey a sense of the Old South on the otherwise barren landscape. Hunt’s vision for Coral Springs was of a totally planned “City in the Country” with brick colonial-style public buildings, boulevards planted with flowers and the Covered Bridge as its centerpiece. The bridge also has a Florida Heritage Site Marker in recognition of its architecture and historical significance to the state. The covered bridge is depicted in Coral Springs’ previous city seal and is the only covered bridge located on a public right-of-way in the state of Florida.“

“The Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency would like to thank Murals by Georgeta for being a vital part of our Riviera Beach Art and Branding Project. Georgeta had the daunting task of installing a great piece of artwork at the main intersection of our City. The design and the final product was truly something special. “We hired Georgeta for a custom paint project on the keel bulb of a racing sailboat belonging to a client. She was very professional and worked with us to get the design exactly as we wanted it. She was also super flexible about using the marine paint that was required for the job. Once the work started, she was incredibly efficient and actually finished ahead of schedule. The result was excellent and was identical to the presented design. We would absolutely work with Georgeta again and highly recommend her for custom paintwork.” Brad Magovsky, AREA 51 Global Logistics
